Blackcomb
Welcome
to Whister Blackcomb. World class ski resort destination. There is no
other place like Whistler Blackcomb.

Whistler Blackcomb mountains welcome you to the largest lift-serviced
high-alpine terrain in North America. At Whistler Blackcomb, in the Coast
Mountains, everything is more intense --the bite of wind-driven powder;
the scent of pine on a spring afternoon; an alpine sun that feels close
enough to touch. Whistler Blackcomb Magic is that it thrives on contradictions.
For every stormy day, there's a powder day that blows your mind and for
every cloudy day there's a sunny day that makes you fall in love with
the mountains all over again. Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains rise up
a mile out of the valley. You will find 5,280 vertical feet and over 7,000
acres of prime terrain. They have 12 alpine bowls, 3 glaciers and more
than 200 marked trails. Average annual snowfall is 360 inches. Whistler
Blackcomb is to host a variety of events for the 2010 Winter Olympic and
Paralympic Games. Whistler Blackcomb is a vibrant community nestled in
the Coast Mountains 120 kilometres / 75 miles north of Vancouver, British
Columbia, Canada. Whistler Blackcomb is all about experiencing the mountains.
Whistler Blackcomb lies amidst the spectacular Coast Mountains of British
Columbia, Canada just 120 kilometres/75 miles north of Vancouver. It's
a charming alpine village and the home of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.
Getting
to Whistler Blackcomb is half the fun. The trip from Vancouver by car,
bus, train, or boat/bus/train combination, samples some of British Columbia's
most breathtaking coastal and mountain scenery. Along the way, you can
stop at the spectacular Shannon Falls near Squamish, the BC Museum of
Mining in Britannia Beach, or the bald eagle nesting grounds in Brackendale.
Whistler Blackcomb.
By Car
Follow Georgia Street heading west (Hwy 99) through Stanley Park (the
Causeway) across the Lions Gate Bridge. As the city splits into North
and West Vancouver you want to follow the signs to enter West Vancouver;
you will now be on Marine Drive. The 1st intersection you come to will
be Marine Drive and Taylor Way. Stay in the right lane and turn right
up Taylor Way towards the mountains. You will pass 2 sets of lights on
Taylor Way-at the 3rd set of lights turn left to connect to Highway 99
to Whistler Blackcomb.
Whistler
Blackcomb Mountains offers top notch skiing. The two mountains are similar
not only in height but also size. Whistler offers 2,194 hectares of skiing,
Blackcomb slightly less. From Whistler Village, a five-km-long gondola
lifts skiers more than a vertical kilometer up Whistler Mountain (the
one on the right as you look up at the resort from the valley floor) above
the valley to east-facing slopes served by eight chairlifts and a T-bar.
Over the back of the main mountain, the Harmony Express quad chairlift
serves 400 hectares (1,000 acres) of bowl skiing. Much of Blackcomb Mountain
is out of sight from the valley; over half the skiing is above the treeline,
and over the back are two massive powder-filled bowls. Whistler Blackcomb.
